Autumn is the time of year when leaves change colour, and the days getting shorter. With the last of the really warm weather behind us, it is time to embrace the Autumn and the joys it brings. The weather is pretty good, the days are bright and fresh still. It is great to wrap up and go for a crisp walk and kick over the autumn leaves. The dogs love this time of year – it has cooled down for them, and they can race around without getting too hot.
Conkers
You don’t have to be a kid to pick up conkers and acorns. I still love to come across a freshly fallen fruit from the tree, be it a conker or an acorn. I can’t resist bringing a few home with me, it reminds me of Autumns past, both when I was a child, and when my children were young.
There is still plenty to do in Autumn, there are lots to look forward to and plan for. If your children are still at home you have the excitement of Halloween and Bonfire Night just around the corner.
Mulled Wine & Home-made Soups
Autumn is a time to look forward to food and drink. The first to spring to mind for me are mulled wine, home-made soups and fresh crusty breads. I like nothing better than to sit around a toasty log fire, cosying up in the evenings with my favourite food and drink. It is a great time for reading, writing, and generally relaxing at home more than we do in the summer.
Embrace the Autumn season, rejoice in the slowing down of the year, and the preparation for the colder months. It is after all, the time of harvesting the good work you have carried out all year. It is a time to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Planning ahead if you are a dog owner
Obviously for some dog owners Bonfire Night can be a problem, so you do need to plan ahead. We are very fortunate here at Bowerland, there are no fireworks going off, nothing to upset our dogs. And we do have three spots available for Fireworks Weekend if you and your dogs would like to escape the noise. Links below have a special fireworks discount already applied. 😀
