I had the joy of staying in Tor View between 4th and 8th of July. Although I was lucky enough to stay in the lovely Annexe when I visited Bowerland before, this visit was extra special and here’s why…
Over the last year my boy, Wolfy, had recurrent lameness and needed spinal surgery. In the 8th week of his recovery, it was confirmed that infection had set in. All the existing surgery needed to be undone, with a new surgery and 13 pins inserted, plus IV’s of antibiotics pre and post surgery. We didn’t rate his chances, but new surgery was his only option. On the night Wolfy was having his 2nd op, I visualised us coming back to Bowerland and made a promise to return if he recovered.
And he did! The first thing I did was to book us in at Bowerland. We really needed that optimism boost! Tor View was simply perfect, with so many colourful unique touches. You have to see it to appreciate it fully. It’s also in a stunning setting with incredible views all round. We made the most of every second during our stay and Wolfy did brilliantly.
The Training & Trainers
The training programme was perfect for us – it really hit all the right spots. We wanted to re-expand Wolfy’s world out and about; help his confidence grow; increase his fitness and work on disengagement. And we got all of that… in spades. We worked with 5 different trainers, who were all fantastic – encouraging, professional, knowledgeable, and brilliant fun to spend time with. Their advice was invaluable. They challenged us and made us feel we could cope with anything.
A Magical Place
On the day that Wolfy needed more downtime, I had the opportunity to work with one of the trainer’s dogs, an adorable WCS, who was so different from my GSD. What a delight and great new growth for me! Wolfy and I are back home now with our new training plan in action, a phone full of pics of amazing memories and our next trip already booked for January 2023. Thank you Bowerland and Team Devon Dogs! A magical place with truly special people.
