About Bowerland

Voted 5 Stars for dog friendliness in places to stay 2015-2016 from the publishers of Your Dog Magazine. If you are looking for dog friendly holidays in Devon, look no further than Bowerland Cottage Holidays, nestled on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Carole and Alan Langman look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful farm, set amongst the rolling Devon hills. Built pre-1254, Bowerland has had a long and varied history — in 1254 it was known as ‘Borland’. By 1578 — when it changed hands for fifty two pounds twelve shillings and six pence – it had become ‘Bowerlande’.

The heart of Bowerland – or Boerland, as it was known in the 13th century, is an ancient Devon farm courtyard set on Dartmoor’s doorstep, just two miles from the spectacular Meldon Reservoir. East Bowerland Farm was a large, thriving farm, with some 400+ acres, and numerous farm buildings. But the land was sold off and the remaining 8 acres is all that is left, alongside the existing developed buildings and of course some of the old original farm buildings.

Bowerland is now a period style farmhouse with two unique and individual 4-star courtyard cottage apartments. The cottage apartments are lovely – we have stayed in them ourselves and guarantee you will love them! Come and have a look for yourself! Combine a Dog Training Holiday Package with your stay – step out of your cottage right into our purpose built, fully equipped indoor dog training barn, pictured here to the left. Our daughter, Lauren, is the head trainer of Devon Dogs. She has an amazing team of trainer’s to work with you and your dogs.
